Tumble dryer energy use becomes a cost estimate only when combined with your own electricity tariff. A generic price per cycle cannot describe every appliance and programme.

Read the right label

The European Commission's dryer guidance explains the rescaled label, including weighted energy use in kWh per 100 cycles. Check which label your machine carries: an annual figure on an older label is not directly comparable with a per-100-cycle figure.

Calculate an estimate

Estimated cost = kWh used × your price per kWh. Divide a per-100-cycle value by 100 first to obtain an indicative cycle average.

A strictly hypothetical example: 120 kWh per 100 cycles means 1.2 kWh per cycle. At an illustrative tariff of 1 Leu/kWh, that is 1.20 Lei. These are calculation inputs, not current tariff advice or a promise about your dryer.

Why actual consumption changes

Starting moisture, load, fabric, programme and the selected dryness level affect the result. A duvet behaves differently from a few shirts. With filled bedding, capacity and complete drying matter alongside cost.

Maintain filters and accessible components as the manual directs, allow the required ventilation and exclude items unsuitable for tumble drying. Do not select an aggressive wash spin merely to shorten drying when the garment label prohibits it.

Frequently asked questions

Does the energy label show my exact bill?

No. It supports comparison under the stated test conditions. Your bill depends on actual use and your energy contract.

Can I dry all my clothes together?

Read the drying symbols and separate items by compatibility and thickness. A machine setting does not replace garment instructions.
